The Salam Cinema
The Salam Cinema is located between the industrial district and Fes Street. It was built in 1946 by Haj Boubker Fakih Tetouani one of the best contractors of the city. It belonged to a businessman called »YahiaYahia ». It lies on an area of 1200m². It has resisted to the earthquake in 1960 thanks to its tunnel shape whereas the buildings around were destroyed.
It was the only cinema of the city until the 1980’s and the only place to go for young people. Many inhabitants have many good memories of this monument. Afterwards, it was sold to another businessman that wanted to destroy it to create a building instead but luckily, the local government has stopped this project.
